The Wolf and Peter

CoisCéim Dance Theatre / by David Bolger

Thu 27 - Fri 28 Apr 2017 Main Auditorium // €7 adults / €5 children / 2 teachers free per class of 20+ / Age 6+ yrs / Dur: 55 mins

Thu 27 Apr  7pm / Fri 28 Apr  10am & 12 noon*

Prokofiev’s PETER AND THE WOLF is one of the most famous pieces of music ever written. The classic story has been interpreted by many artists from Disney to the Marx Brothers and won a Grammy award for Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachov and Sofia Loren.

CoisCéim Dance Theatre takes this timeless story of courage and imagination as inspiration. Here… the story is told through the eyes of a WOLF. Filled with dance and live music, this fun and richly theatrical production by David Bolger gives life to a Bird, a Cat, a Duck, a Boy, and of course a WOLF in a highly energetic original work. This production features the extraordinary pianist Conor Linehan playing live on stage as THE WOLF AND PETER takes children and their families on a thrilling adventure to explore and discover contemporary dance and performance at its best.

* After the 12 noon school show you will have the chance to 'Meet the Wolf' for free.
Directly following the 12 noon performance, the audience will be invited to meet the different characters from the story, and get to ask any questions they might have about the show. The cast will then guide the audience through some of the key movement sequences from the performance, where the children will be able to explore and practice some of the choreographic interpretation in lively, fun and interactive way from their seats (Dur 15 mins).
