Prokofiev’s PETER AND THE WOLF is one of the most famous pieces of music ever written. The classic story has been interpreted by many artists from Disney to the Marx Brothers and won a Grammy award for Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachov and Sofia Loren.
CoisCéim Dance Theatre takes this timeless story of courage and imagination as inspiration for its forthcoming work to be premiered this autumn. Here… the story is told through the eyes of a WOLF. Filled with dance and live music, this fun and richly theatrical production by David Bolger gives life to a Bird, a Cat, a Duck, a Boy, and of course a WOLF in a highly energetic original new work. This production features the extraordinary pianist Conor Linehan playing live on stage as THE WOLF AND PETER takes children and their families on a thrilling adventure to explore and discover contemporary dance and performance at its best.

Young lovers create comic chaos in this witty ballet. Franz and his financee Hildy are curious about the beautiful girl, Coppélia. Jealous of Franz’s infatuation with Coppélia, Hildy begins to suspect things are not all that they seem. She and her friends decide to follow the perfect starlet home, eventually arriving at Dr Copplius laboratories. Inside, they stumble upon a magical and strange world, uncovering secrets that will change them forever! Setting the much-loved story at a County Fair choreographer Morgann Runacre-Temple (Carmen, Romeo & Juliet), with writer Stella Feehily, (actor on Fair City), has created a witty and pertinent ballet inspired by our own obsession with youthful perfection. With its nod to the movie glamour of yesteryear, its captivating dance and the charming music of Léo Delibes and Tom Lane, Coppélia will enchant and enthral audiences of all ages.
