HOMESPUN - A D15 Young Voices Project
NOV 2017- FEB 2018
We invite teachers from Primary and Secondary Schools in Dublin 15 to apply to be part of HOMESPUN, a spoken word, poetry and performance project, with award winning poet Colm Keegan and Visual Artist Micheal McLoughlin.
Over Autumn/Winter 2017 and Spring 2018, Colm Keegan will engage pupils in writing poetry about their place and their home, complementing Draíocht’s theatre project, ‘Home Theatre Ireland’. This is a project about encouraging, supporting and acknowledging the voice of our younger citizens. The project will culminate in a live performance and exhibition in Draíocht’s First Floor Gallery space in Spring 2018.
If you are interested in your school taking part in this project please contact email@example.com or on 01 8098029 for an application form by Friday 29nd September 2017.
Yvonne McGuinness - Amharc Fhine Gall 11th Edition
Draíocht in collaboration with Fingal County Council Arts Office
Draíocht, in collaboration with Fingal County Council Arts Office, is delighted to announce a new commission from visual artist Yvonne McGuinness for the 11th edition of Amharc Fhine Gall. McGuinness’ practice encompasses performance, video, photography, sewing, writing, sculpture and context-specific installations. She has an interest in embodied experience of place and in re-imagining the everyday by devising projects that create dynamic moments of connection to place and community. Her work is immersive, collaborative and is often a catalyst to generate other narratives for its participants.
For this commission, McGuinness will work with a culturally diverse group of local young people from D15's Foroige, exploring themes of identity, place and their connection to it. This collaboration during the autumn months will result in a site-specific performance and film installation to be shown in Draíocht’s Ground Floor Gallery - itself a two-way mirror between ‘the art world’ and ‘the real world’
Amharc Fhine Gall (Fingal Gaze) is an annual exhibition funded by Fingal County Council’s Arts Office, in collaboration with Draíocht. The exhibition was initiated in 2004 to provide a platform for visual artists from or living in Fingal. Yvonne McGuinness grew up in Portmarnock, Co Fingal.
Draiocht's Galleries are open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm. Admission is Free.
Curated by Sharon Murphy, Draíocht Curator-in-Residence 2017.

Hansel & Gretel – ALMOST SOLD OUT
Lyngo Theatre Company
Is hunger stronger than love? In this story, it seems to be as the poor woodsman’s empty stomach goes to his head, he gives in to the bony step-mother and they leave Hansel and Gretel in the forest, not just once but twice and the second time there won’t be any moonstones to follow back home. Instead they follow their noses to the sugary heart of darkness.
A musical theatre version of this classic brother and sister tale of adventure and magic where we’ll have you humming along throughout and cheering as the witch slides down into our flaming oven.
THU 07 & FRI 08 DEC 10.15AM & 12.15PM (ALMOST SOLD OUT)
SAT 09 DEC 2PM – (SOLD OUT) & 4PM – (SOLD OUT)

Phil Coulter - Pure Gold - SOLD OUT
Almost Sold Out
Phil’s long career as a songwriter, producer and recording artiste has been recognised over the years with so many gold discs that the theme is totally appropriate. Very few in the music business can boast of having chart entries in every decade since the sixties. Even fewer can match the range of Phil’s output – from Eurovision winners to folk classics, from tender ballads to sporting anthems, from Luke Kelly to Elvis Presley!
His new show, Pure Gold, will feature Phil’s personal favourites as he trawls through his 50 years of creativity.
