Neil Delamere Live

Sat 1 Jul 2017 8PM Main Auditorium // €22 / €20 conc

Following sold out shows last year, the master of mirth is back with his own unique brand of his irreverent humour. 2016 was another busy year for the perennially popular star of the Blame Game, which celebrates its 10th birthday on TV this year. With that, a science comedy series for RTE2 and his radio show on Today FM under his belt, now he is back to where it all started, talking to strangers in rooms for money.

"Simply put, Delamere is a master." The Scotsman

Limitless - Aoife Dunne

Limitless - Aoife Dunne

Fri 7 Jul - Sat 26 Aug 2017 Ground Floor Gallery

Limitless is an immersive digital installation by artist Aoife Dunne which focuses on her preoccupation with perfection and fear of inadequacy. She is interested in the relationship between costume and identity and the creation of large-scale environments. The artist moves fluidly between physical and digital worlds presenting her work with deliberate childlike playfulness and absurdity.  In this piece, Aoife creates a video game and recreates the 2D game environment in the physical, allowing the viewer to enter the work. Limitless explores the desire to continuously recreate oneself in a never-ending cycle of self-construction driven by self-critique.
Aoife Dunne is an award winning artist and recent graduate in Fine Art Media from NCAD. Outside of the studio, Aoife works as a Creative Director and Stylist, the experience of which strongly influences her practice.

Meta Perceptual Helmets - Cleary Connolly and Neil McKenzie

Meta Perceptual Helmets - Cleary Connolly and Neil McKenzie

Fri 7 - Sat 8 Jul 2017 First Floor Gallery

If we have two eyes, then why is our vision so limited? Why do we have so little depth perception? Why don’t our two eyes offer us two different views of the world? Why don’t they allow us to look behind and in front at the same time, or sideways in both directions? Cleary Connolly’s meta-perceptual helmets ingeniously invite us to set aside our preconceptions and to experience things in ways quite different from the norm. Wearing the helmets, you become a hybrid creature yourself, part human, part machine, part animal, but also: part work of art. A work of art that challenges those who contemplate the helmet - from the inside or from the outside - to take a new perspective on the world.

Artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly have spent several years developing an extraordinary series of helmets, art that can help us to explore these and other mysteries of visual perception. The collection has been hand-crafted in aluminium by master coach-builder Neil McKenzie and will be on view in Draíocht for two days only.
