White Relaxed Performance

Sensory Friendly Family Show

Sat 2 Dec 2017 2PM Draíocht Studio // €7 adults / €5 children Age 2-4 yrs / Dur: 45 mins

Catherine Wheels Theatre Co / Presented as part of Spréacha – Fingal’s International Arts Programme for Children at Draiocht

Welcome to the beautifully strange world of White.
Full of birdsong and birdhouses, it gleams and dazzles and shines in the night. Two friends look after the birds and make sure the eggs stay safe. The world is bright, ordered and white. But high up in the trees, all is not white. Colour appears. First red … then yellow … then blue! White is a playful, highly visual new show for very young children and is a perfect first-time theatre experience.

Our Relaxed Performance on Saturday 02 December at 2pm will have no sudden noises or bangs, restricted capacity, the ability to move around, softer and brighter lighting and music at a suitable level. We will also provide a chill-out area with low lighting for parents/guardians to bring children who may need to have a little break.

We have prepared a Pre-Visit Guide in advance which you can access as a PDF.

The Great Gatsby (2013)

Senior Cycle Film Screening in Association with Access Cinema

Wed 6 Dec 2017 10.30AM Main Auditorium // €5 Per Student / 2 Teachers Free per Class of 20+

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan) and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Is hunger stronger than love? In this story, it seems to be as the poor woodsman’s empty stomach goes to his head, he gives in to the bony step-mother and they leave Hansel and Gretel in the forest, not just once but twice and the second time there won’t be any moonstones to follow back home. Instead they follow their noses to the sugary heart of darkness.
A musical theatre version of this classic brother and sister tale of adventure and magic where we’ll have you humming along throughout and cheering as the witch slides down into our flaming oven.
