Spréacha 2017

We open our Spréacha International Programme 2017, with a wonderful show called 'The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean'.

Spréacha shows are perfect for school groups and families with events programmed in and out of school time. Phone our Box Office now on 01-8852622.

Spréacha is presented by Draíocht in partnership with Fingal County Council.

"It was magical, they were mesmerized – it was the best school tour we were ever on."

"They loved it, one child (hard of hearing) doesn’t communicate very much and he communicated about it at home, this is very unusual for him, he only does this with things that he has really enjoyed."

Everything is flat, pressed, squished.
A dusty, musty smell mixes with the scent of old lavender and a string lifts a flap to reveal a hidden door. Slowly, page-by-page, the scrapbook becomes the window into a secret world and a curious life unfolds before us.
Who was Josephine Bean?
The clues are in its pages …

Waves - SOLD OUT

By Alice Mary Cooper / Presented as part of Spreacha – Fingal’s International Arts Programme for Children at Draiocht

Tue 16 May 2017 10.15AM & 12.15PM Draíocht Studio // €7 adults / €5 children / 2 teachers free per class of 20+ / Age 8+ yrs / Dur: 50 mins

Waves is the story of Elizabeth Moncello, of her youth growing up on a small Australian island in the 1930s and how she came to be the unofficial inventor of the butterfly stroke. An intimate theatrical event combining highly expressive storytelling, delicate movement and splashes of humour to tell Elizabeth’s amazing tale of a life fully lived. Waves is about having an idea and the courage, drive and desire to follow it through - to swim against the tide of history and expectations, and to achieve something that is truly incredible.
A delight for audiences from 8 to 80.

Thu 30 Nov - Sat 2 Dec 2017 Draiocht Studio // €7 adults / €5 children // Dur: 45 mins

Welcome to the beautifully strange world of White.
Full of birdsong and birdhouses, it gleams and dazzles and shines in the night. Two friends look after the birds and make sure the eggs stay safe. The world is bright, ordered and white. But high up in the trees, all is not white. Colour appears. First red … then yellow … then blue! White is a playful, highly visual new show for very young children and is a perfect first-time theatre experience.
