Allyson Keehan is a painter who concentrates on making highly decorative still life images which feature a variety of beautiful objects reflecting consumer and sentimental values which we attach to personal possessions and mementos. Part of her work highlights how consumer culture is telling women the key to attractiveness is found in the material objects and products we buy rather than in our self esteem. Another part of her work is a more emotional and sometimes amusing celebration of those objects. Keehan’s style is highly refined and literal and focuses in an analytical way on such emblematic material.
Allyson Keehan graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2002 and a MA from the Byam Shaw College of Art, London in 2004. She has exhibited in London and in Newcastlewest Library, Limerick, and Monster Truck Gallery, Francis Street, Dublin 8.
