Draiocht News Update - 12 June 2020
Draíocht Audience Survey
Since 2001, Draíocht has proudly served the people of Blanchardstown and surrounding communities. Now our much-loved venue is temporarily closed, as we play our part in preventing the spread of coronavirus. We have no past experience to draw upon for a situation like this - so we really need to hear your thoughts on the current situation and how you feel about attending events again at some point.
We have worked with our partners, Thrive and Indigo to develop a short online survey, which is available HERE.
We would be grateful if you would spare us a few minutes to complete it. Your responses are completely anonymous and will be used to inform our own planning, as well as being added to responses from all over Ireland to help produce a national picture for theatres, arts centres and festivals alike.
Thank you so much and we look forward to welcoming you back before too long!
In some great news, we are delighted to announce that Draíocht's Betelnut Cafe will reopen on Monday 29 June. Stay tuned for times, menus and our new safety procedures.

Let’s Stay Together: Draíocht Planning for recovery post Covid-19
Let’s Stay Together is a Fingal Arts Office initiative connecting artists and communities during Covid-19. Week 8 features our very own Director, Emer McGowan, in conversation with Sarah O’Neill, Deputy Arts Officer, Fingal County Council. They discuss how Draíocht’s staff and artists have coped over the last 12 weeks, the employment crisis in the Arts and Cultural Sector and how social distancing measures with reduced capacity will impact our Autumn programme.
#SHOWUSYOURART - 350+ Submissions So Far
We can’t believe that next week is Week 12 of #ShowUsYourArt, the final week in this Project! We’ve journeyed together since the end of March through many creative tasks, taking inspiration from ‘Spring’, ‘Easter’, ‘Junk Art’, ‘Book Covers’, ‘Buildings’, ‘Animals’, ‘Family’, ‘Nature’, ‘Superheros & Supervillains’, ‘Holidays’ and ‘Best Friends’.
Our final week is dedicated to ‘Thank You Cards’. Let’s take the time to design a thank you card to all of those who have helped us through all this. It could be your family for providing for you, a worker who has persevered through the restrictions, your cat who has entertained and loved you, or even a fictional character who has whisked you away to a land of imagination!
This is a wonderful opportunity for us to say a HUGE THANK YOU to YOU! Hundreds of children have come on this artistic adventure with us online.
The next stage of #ShowUsYourArt is equally exciting, as we’ll invite you to bring your work to Draíocht in early July, so we can assemble and curate a beautiful exhibition in our Ground Floor Gallery. We hope you’ve kept your artworks safe and can’t wait to present it for all to enjoy. We’ll open the exhibition to the public from 20th July with our new safety measures in place.
Interested in letting a mini-artist take part? Simply take a photo of your child's artwork when it's finished and email it to Paula at email@example.com by 19th June. Tell us your child's first name & age (this may be posted on social media with your permission with their gorgeous artwork for all to enjoy).
