#CreateAtHome - Cardboard Animal Masks with Genevieve Harden

#CreateAtHome - Cardboard Animal Masks with Genevieve Harden

Mon 1 Jun - Fri 31 Jul 2020

#CreateAtHome - Artist Genevieve Harden has created this amazing workshop to help you explore different mask making techniques using cardboard. Start by creating different textures by tearing and ripping the cardboard, and also use flattened smooth pieces, and different colours. Shred some cardboard for whiskers or feathers. Puncture with a ruler to create rough pieces. Create as many textures as you can, then draw your animal's face and create a jigsaw of pieces with all your different textures. Gen will show you how to make a basic structure first, then attach all your pieces. In this video, Genevieve will show you how to make a Cat Mask, and you can then apply these techniques to making all sorts of animal masks.
Enjoy!

Draíocht's Family Art programme is ideal for ages 5-10 years.

With Genevieve Harden

Mon 1 Jun - Fri 31 Jul 2020

#CreateAtHome - Artist Genevieve Harden has created this amazing workshop to help you create your own Animation Set, complete with backdrop, props and a mini photo of yourself in the middle of all the action, on your dream day. First a brainstorm to draw your perfect sketched background painting. Maybe a Hot Air Balloon Adventure? Maybe a Beach Scene? Or maybe a Giant Ladybird and lots of Giant Flowers? Enjoy drawing and painting your backdrop and adding in objects into your scene. Gen shows us how to make a ladybird from plasticine to complete her adventure. You could carry on this idea and make your own stop motion movie afterwards.

Enjoy!

Works by Children from Dublin 15

Mon 20 Jul - Fri 28 Aug 2020 Ground Floor Gallery

An Initiative of Draíocht's Children/Youth Arts Programme during Covid19.

We are delighted to reopen Draíocht’s Ground Floor Gallery with an exhibition of 326 works made during lockdown by 164 children from 122 families living on the doorstep of Draíocht in Dublin 15. An initiative of Draíocht’s Children and Youth Arts Programme, #ShowUsYourArt invited its young artists aged 2-13 to make paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations and photographic images as a way to stay close and positively engage during the pandemic.

Over a period of twelve weeks between 30 March and 19 June, portfolios of artworks by the children emerged which investigated and represented their ideas around a range of themes from the experience of different seasonal festivals to the built environment and from the natural world to best friends, family ties and even superheroes. Each week Draíocht posted a selection of submissions online and, following the easing of restrictions, the artworks made their way to the Gallery for selection and installation. The Gallery has been designed to show the works on small shelves, on large round wooden wall based panels, in grid formations, on screens and a specially made soundscape of the children’s experience has been commissioned.

We are indebted to the children and families for their extraordinary commitment and enthusiasm.
