Leaving Cert Art Appreciation & Gallery Sketch Tours

With Artist Bridget Flannery

Thu 16 Mar — Fri 28 Apr 2023
Event2023 Gallery Tour Bridget Flannery

Draíocht’s Galleries provide an excellent opportunity for your students to engage with a local gallery and professional artists. Designed for Leaving Certificate students and teachers, these tours will use the current exhibitions as a starting point to support those preparing for the Leaving Certificate Art Appreciation section through a series of talks and practical activities.

Guided by artist Bridget Flannery, students will gain an understanding of the curatorial process and installation considerations, and hear about the artists processes, techniques and inspiration. Our tour gives students the opportunity to ask questions and explore Draíocht’s exhibitions, focusing on how we curate, layout, install, display and light work, which can feed directly into the Leaving Certificate Art Exam Paper, which often includes a question on visiting an exhibition or a gallery space.

A tour of the exhibition will be facilitated with a focus on two artworks to compare and contrast style, subject matter, and artistic techniques.

Tickets are €2 per student.
Tour lasts 90 minutes.
