REMIND ME ABOUT THIS EVENT

Laugh, sing and maybe even shed a tear with the 18 strong Percy French Troubadours, who invite you to join with them for this evening of songs, poems and sketches by Percy French. Featuring all-time favourites ‘Are ye right there Michael?’, ‘The Darling Girl from Clare’, ‘To The West’, ‘The Four Farrellys’ and ‘Abdul Abulbul Amir’ (Percy’s first successful song), they’ll even give you a sheet with all the words to sing along!

Having already raised over €97,000 for a variety of charities, this night will be in aid of CASA - The Caring & Sharing Association.

William Percy French (1854-1920) was one of Ireland's foremost songwriters and entertainers in his day. French was born at Cloonyquin House, near Tulsk, County Roscommon, the son of an Anglo-Irish landlord. He was educated at Foyle College in County Derry-Londonderry, and wrote his first successful song while studying at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 1877 for a "smoking concert". The song, "Abdul Abulbul Amir" was sold for £5 to an unscrupulous publisher. The song later became hugely popular and was falsely claimed by other authors.
