Shorts for Wee Ones – Magical Tales for Ages 3+

Shorts for Wee Ones – Magical Tales for Ages 3+

Culture Night Free Screening

Fri 20 Sep 2019 4PM Main Auditorium // FREE // Dur: 45 mins

This collection of short films from around the world will delight anyone over the age of three.

There’s a penguin whose attempts to serve drinks at a birthday party lead to utter chaos, a mystery fish who will only swim at the surface of the sea, and a little girl who insists on moving in to live with the animals at the zoo. A large green bird has some difficulties with a big bell and a very frisky egg, and we learn what happens when some dots start thinking (and eating) outside the box. Plus – screen giant Samuel L. Jackson gives us his finest, funkiest, flashiest Tyrannosaurus Rex in a truly jaw-dropping, mind-boggling and foot-tapping four minutes.

Shorts for Middle Ones – Exquisite Stories for Ages 8+

Culture Night Free Screening

Fri 20 Sep 2019 5.30PM Main Auditorium // FREE // Dur: 55 mins

We watch relationships develop through the power of sport (gymnastics and basketball), the paper-based genesis of a new canine superhero and visit a chic Parisian restaurant with a truly unique menu for its most discerning clientele. We watch a fresh way of interpreting art in a gallery, and see how an old, forgotten Rubik’s Cube finds a whole new audience. Plus there are some madcap antics in two very different films about what happens when a pair of budgerigars suddenly discover their freedom… A mix of  both live action and animation, these films offer some very distinctive world views.

All his life Mac has wanted to be an Archaeologist, to be an expert in finding things and working out what they mean. If only he could stick to the facts and not get carried away with his highfalutin stories. But in a world where facts and figures mean so much more than fairy tale and fantasy, Mac has to dig deeper to prove what he finds is what he thinks it is. Will people believe him, or is this just another of his tall tales?
Performer and writer Paul Curley, designer Ger Clancy and director Robert Alan Evans, bring this brand new adventure to life. THE DIG spins a classic yarn into a brand new light that will delight and charm audiences young and old.

Supported by The Arts Council Theatre Touring Award and Irish Theatre Institute.
