Draíocht News Update - 01 May 2020

The arts are certainly proving their worth as a crucial part of wellness, helping us to stay positive during this current crisis. Online resources are plentiful and we hope you are enjoying Draíocht’s content, as well as that of all our arts colleagues who are working hard around the country; alone, but together; in isolation, but embedded in our communities nonetheless. We miss you all very much.
We have a new COVID-19 Temporary Box Office Phone Number, for ticket enquiries, Monday-Friday 10am-6pm: 083-084 7249
Or maybe you just want a Draíocht Chat? Philippa is at the end of the phone, as she runs our Box Office from home.
If you need specific assistance, the best way to contact any of our staff at the moment is by email.
FACEBOOK SENSATIONS!
We’ve 14 Blogs now to help you #CREATEATHOME with your children, with everything from a Junk Art Robot to a Paper Mache Book Cover.
In the last week alone, our professional artists have clocked up an impressive 6000+ views on Facebook with their fun video tutorials.
We are hugely grateful to our funders, Fingal County Council and The Arts Council as their continued support enables us honour our financial commitments to all our artists this Season. We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our artists work online and to carry on working with them to bring you the the quality of work that you know Draíocht for.

SUPPORT OUR ARTISTS + BUY A PRINT
Draíocht’s forthcoming exhibition ‘MAKing Art: PRINTing’, curated by Sharon Murphy, will open later this Season once we’re back in action.
For now though, you can preview all the work from Graphic Studio Dublin in our Online Gallery, complete with Artists Biogs and Prices.
The artists are all Fingal based, and if you are interested in supporting their work by pre-purchasing a print, framed or unframed, please email nicola@draiocht.ie and we can take your payment by phone and organise swift payment to the artists.

UPLIFTING MUSIC - GET YOUR GLAD RAGS ON!
Part of the joy of our work is experiencing uplifting events, and on occasion, we get the opportunity to record them. This is the perfect time to share with you a recording we made during the Mother Tongues Festival in Draíocht in February, by The Akano Rhythm Brothers and Friends.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, the Akano Rhythm Brothers have found a new home in Dublin 15 and love to share their language and African musical and dance heritage with everyone. Enjoy this upbeat family concert recording, with groovy and energetic sounds of Afrobeats with a modern twist, all while celebrating African culture.
Play it loud and imagine that Draíocht is open once again, and we are all together celebrating in style! Hopefully that will be a reality very soon. Did we already tell you we miss you?
