Secondary School Tours:
Bring your class for a full tour of our building, include Draíocht’s Galleries, Theatres and Backstage areas. Students are encouraged to voice their own opinions about the artists and their work in our galleries and ask questions about theatre productions and staging, on this fun 50-minute free tour (max 30 pupils with accompanying teacher). Please contact sarah@draiocht.ie to check availability.
Focus On Workshops:
After a facilitated exploration of exhibitions in our Galleries, featured artists will lead students through workshops introducing the principles of their artform. Students then get to try out their new techniques themselves and bring their new skills back to the classroom and homes.
Leaving Cert Art Appreciation & Gallery Sketch Tours:
Cost: €25 per class / Duration: 50 mins
Draíocht’s Galleries provide an excellent opportunity for your students to engage with a local gallery and professional artists. Designed for Leaving Certificate students and teachers, but can be adapted to suit any secondary cycle year, these tours are guided by one of our professional artists. Participants will gain an understanding of the curatorial process and installation considerations, and hear about the artists processes, techniques and inspiration. Our tour gives students the opportunity to ask questions and explore Draíocht’s exhibitions, focusing on how we curate, layout, install, display and light work, which can feed directly into the Leaving Certificate Art Exam Paper, which often includes a question on visiting an exhibition or a gallery space.
A tour of the exhibition will be facilitated with a focus on two artworks to compare and contrast style, subject matter, and artistic techniques. This Season we have tours available for our Current Exhibitions. Please contact sarah@draiocht.ie or 01 809 8029. All materials will be provided. Max 30 students per class with accompanying teacher. Time and date be arranged to suit the school and the artist.
Exploring Theatre Craft
This transition year project, facilitated by theatre professional Eimear Morrissey, works annually with TY students each November for 5 weeks, from Hartstown Community School and Rath Dara Community College, introducing them to the magic of theatre.
If you are a secondary school in Dublin 15 interested in finding out more about this project, please contact sarah@draiocht.ie or 01 809 8029.
Curated Programme of Film & Theatre
Draíocht also presents a curated programme of film and live theatre events for Secondary School students, often with accompanying workshops and resource packs. Draíocht’s Youth Arts Department, in collaboration with our partners in the Irish Film Institute and Access Cinema, is interested in hearing from D15 schools who may like a foreign language film screening for Senior Cycle Students, or film screenings supporting the Junior and Senior certificate exams or a film screening that links in with projects that your classes are currently working on. Screenings will be possible in accordance with the availability of the film and our auditorium, and with a minimum number of 100 students, at a cost of €5 per student/teachers free. Please contact sarah@draiocht.ie or 01 809 8029.
School Performances
We also welcome our local schools to Draíocht’s stage for their school productions.
CULTURE PASS
Draíocht's CULTURE PASS is especially for young people aged 14-25 years, to give them access to a variety of events in Draíocht at a reduced price. These tickets are heavily subsidised by Draíocht and are part of our strategy to provide a 'Space for Everyone'. Read more & apply HERE
