Primary School Tours
Bring your class for a full tour of our building; including Draíocht’s Galleries, Theatres and Backstage areas .. maybe even sing a song on the stage! Pupils are encouraged to voice their own opinions about the artists and the work in our galleries and ask questions about shows, on this fun 50-minute free tour (max 30 pupils with accompanying teacher). Please contact sarah@draiocht.ie to check availability or SEE CURRENT TOURS
Focus On Workshops
After a facilitated exploration of exhibitions in our Galleries, featured artists will lead pupils through workshops introducing the principles of their artform. Pupils then get to try out their new techniques themselves and bring their new skills back to the classroom and homes.
Artist in the Classroom
This programme provides a range of high-quality arts experiences for primary school pupils and teachers in their own classroom, working with Draíocht’s professional artists. Schools can choose from a range of specially selected and purposefully created school workshops each season. Past workshops have included: ‘Music & Singing in Your Classroom with Donal Kearney’; ‘Print in Your Classroom with Deirdre O’Reilly’ and ‘Drama in Your Classroom with Eimear Morrissey’.
THINKTANK
Invitation to Participate for D15 Primary School Classes with Opinions
Throughout 2024 we will begin our THINKTANK Project. We aim to go into every school in Dublin 15 and ask pupils about what they think about us and why. What do they think an arts centre is for. This will take the form of a fun 60 minute theatre craft-based workshop with Eimear Morrissey. If you teach a class group from 1st class upwards, who you think have opinions, get in touch with sarah@draiocht.ie and we will come and hear them out!
Your Walls: An Art Sharing Project For D15 Schools
If art is one of our most meaningful forms of expression, then it’s important that children experience original art images and objects. So Draíocht is expanding the walls of our gallery right onto the walls of Dublin 15 schools, with our new Art Sharing Programme YOUR WALLS using work from Draíocht's Collection. YOUR WALLS begins with Draíocht's gallery technicians hanging works in the school lobby or place of interest in the schools, followed by in-schools training for teachers, and then a series of classroom-based workshops designed and facilitated by Dr Annie McKeown O’Donovan and Dr. Lucy Elvis, two philosophers from CURO. Curated Programme of Film & Theatre
Draíocht also presents a curated programme of film and live theatre events for Primary School children, often with accompanying workshops.
School Performances
We also welcome our local schools to Draíocht’s stage for their school productions.
