So, keep your eye out for our very special Interactive Audio Storytelling adventure where your Toddler can bring you along, to see, hear and experience your neighbourhood with new eyes and think about really important questions like:

Mother Tongues Festival May 2021
Draíocht is thrilled to be a partner venue for this year's Mother Tongues Festival 2021, taking place online starting 17 May 2021. The Mother Tongues Festival is the largest festival celebrating linguistic diversity through the arts in Ireland and has hosted events in over 20 different languages since its inception in 2018.

Jess Rowell - Dance Artist in Residence 2021
We are delighted to announce the return of Jess Rowell as Draíocht's Dance Artist in Residence 2021.
"Last year shone a light on the resilience, ingenuity and versatility of dancers and dance as an art form. It is a universal language that connects us in many beautiful ways. I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Draíocht again this year. I look forward to building on the rich relationships created during 2020 and forming new ones." Jess Rowell
Throughout 2021 Jess will continue to develop her own professional practice and build on the creative relationships formed throughout her 2020 Residency.

Draíocht by Drone
Light Up, Draíocht's Building Projection Commissions 2021, continues with a new work by digital installation artist Aoife Dunne: ABYSS, a large-scale digital installation inspired by the chaotic nature of our current isolated and technology-driven lives. You can enjoy ABYSS until Saturday 1 May 2021.
We are delighted to present ‘Light Up’, an artist led, community engagement Project, presented by Draíocht, in partnership with Fingal County Council. It sees Draíocht commission artists to create a series of images that will be projected onto our building over the darker months of 2021.
GROOVE - Anna Newell Theatre Adventures

Fishamble - Filming on Draíocht’s stage last week
Draíocht supported our colleagues in Fishamble: The New Play Company last week, as they filmed their brilliant production of ‘On Blueberry Hill’ by Sebastian Barry on our Main Stage, starring Niall Buggy and David Ganly.
It was so brilliant to see the whole team working away; Lighting Designer Mark Galione, Stage Manager Steph Ryan; Sound Designer Denis Clohessy; Producer Eva Scanlan, Director Jim Culleton. And stunning set & costumes were designed by Sabine Dargent.
As with all projects during Covid, both Draíocht & Fishamble team members worked within the required H&S guidelines.

Wonderful WUNDERGROUND
WUNDERGROUND is Ceol Connected's most recent gig theatre production for young audiences. Over the next five weeks, Draíocht is delighted to support Ceol Connected as they develop, rehearse and live stream elements of the show. Watch out for some live streaming of music and songs from the show as rehearsals get underway!
Wunderground is co-created by Emma Fisher and Thomas Johnston, and features Thomas Baker (puppeteer), Áine mcGeeney (fiddle/song), Stephen Markham (keys/sound design), Thomas Johnston (whistles/song). Directed by Mollie Molumby with lighting design by Sebastian Pizarro.
Liam McCarthy Awarded Draíocht’s CCI Residency Award 2021/2022
Liam McCarthy is the 5th and latest Draíocht recipient of a CCI Residency Award (2021/2022), one of 39 Artist Awards announced by our partners in Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris.
Liam is a writer and drama facilitator. He has worked, in various capacities, for several theatre companies and festivals in Ireland and abroad. His play Mam and Love and Woo was recently awarded the Wilde Irish Writer Bursary at Dublin Fringe Festival 2020.
Liam is currently developing Fergal, a play about self-love for 3-6 year olds. As part of his residency at CCI, Liam will develop his practice in presenting theatre work for younger audiences, exploring new and collaborative approaches to creating new work for children.
Draíocht is delighted to continue our partnership with CCI, supporting an artist to travel to Paris, tapping into the resources of the CCI and the city of Paris.
Guest Facilitator Felicia Olusanya joins D15 Youth Theatre over Easter
Over 4 days of the Easter holidays, with facilitator Emily Matthews and special guest facilitator Felicia Olusanya, Draíocht's D15 Youth Theatre members enjoyed an interactive writing workshop, that sought to give a voice to young adults in our community.
The outcome of that workshop will form part of Fingal County Council's Arts Office Cruinniú Na nOg celebrations, in June later this year.
Felicia introduced them to different poetry techniques. They worked off themes like identity, their area, mental health and relationships, with all themes prompted by the group. They explored their own emotions and thoughts within these themes and wrote from the heart. As well as writing solo pieces, the group watched a variety of performances, did a guided meditation, and a particular favourite, the Ping Pong Word Association Game. Then they all worked together merging their poems to create two beautiful finished pieces which we can’t wait to share with you later this year, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations 2021.
These workshops took place in collaboration with Fingal County Council Arts Office, with funding from Creative Ireland.
Create Dancers Master the Jerusalema Dance
"To kick off our Spring term we jumped into the Jerusalema dance. The perfect way to get us dancing and laughing out of the Winter! It was so good to meet up on Zoom and catch everyone's moves". Conor Donelan.
We are excited to start Create Dance Term 3 this Saturday with a live zoom workshop. We will continue to support our members with a mix of live zoom and pre-recorded workshops with facilitators Mark Rogers and Conor Donelan, while also working with our Dance Artist in Residence Jess Rowell.
PLAY - Music in the Schoolyard
Following a highly successful pilot project in 2020, PLAY has been developed in direct response to our current schools' Covid-19 restrictions, as Draíocht continues to seek meaningful, sustainable, innovative ways of engaging with our local schools.
Music can be a wonderful stimulus in the classroom and is a natural starting point for children to observe closely, think critically and share their thoughts and reactions through their own words to what they have seen and heard.
We are offering D15 schools the opportunity to experience PLAY, with visits from established musicians directly to your schoolyard, showcasing a range of musical genres from popular to traditional to contemporary.
