Alan Keane

October 2001 - January 2002

Exhib Alan Keane2001

"My work is an exploration of what we might find beneath the layers of the commonplace. I am interested in the questions that arise through the making and meaning of art, rather than the solutions". Alan Keane

Alan graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Ulster, Belfast, having completed a BA in Fine Art Painting at Crawford College of Art (Cork).

He won the 2001 Adjudicators Award at the annual Scoip exhibition in Siamsa Tire, Tralee and his work has been seen in several group shows including EV+A, Limerick. He has just returned from a one month residency in Vilnius courtesy of the Lithuanian Artists Association which resulted in a solo show entitled 'Shadow Play' at the Arka Gallery, Vilnius. Keane completed a ten-month residency at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2001.

Working on paper, Keane's work has a warm organic sensibility. Textures of velvet and suede form meandering contours like aerial photographs of tropical landscapes.
