Draíocht is delighted to welcome artist Deirdre Byrne to the Artists Studio.
During her residency, Deirdre will make a new body of work for a solo exhibition in Draíocht next year. Deirdre’s work investigates how landscapes change over time. Her pen and ink drawings and paper installations feature imagery of structures that remain as an aftermath in the post building boom Irish landscape.
Deirdre Byrne graduated from the National College of Art and Design with a degree in Fine Art Painting in 2003 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art and Design Education in 2011. Deirdre was part of the group exhibition Amharc Fhine Gall – It's All in the Detail at Draíocht in 2008 curated by Caroline Cowley. Her work has also been exhibited in Monster Truck Gallery and Studios, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, Across The Way and The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely.
Deirdre Byrne's 2012 exhibition was called 'After the Great Scaldwood' and ran from 14 June - 01 September 2012 in the Ground Floor Gallery.
