Katherine Sankey’s practice is engaged with how we as humans adapt, colonize and inhabit territories. Her sculpture is linear, combines arboreal elements, plumbing, electrics and video to explore themes of mutation, extraction, supply and degradation.
During the residency Sankey will be working on an installation for PLATFORM 21, a four person exhibition opening at Draíocht in September, as well as her AIP solo exhibition for PALLAS P/S in November. From then until 22 January when her residency ends, she will develop new work stemming from the Draíocht and Pallas exhibitions.
Katherine Sankey is an Australian Irish artist born in Paris whose installations consider the interplay between ecology and land use, as well as the built environment and the human body.
