Amharc Fhine Gall (The Fingal Gaze) supports ambitious new artworks from Fingal artists at all stages of their career. The exhibition was initiated in 2004 by Fingal County Council Arts Office to celebrate the wealth of artistic talent in the county.
Bright Beginnings alluded to the hopefulness in the artists work physically and at this stage of their career. The show included work by painters Joshua Sex and SanjaTodorović, and a special inclusion of work which was at research stage by Michelle Hall. Hall received a research grant to allow her to develop the project relating to an area in Wales called Llandudno which used to be known as The Happy Valley.
Fingal County Council supplemented this exhibition with a professional development day, ‘What Next?’, for all recent art graduates and fourth year students, including workshops on funding applications, dealing with curators and artists perspectives and career paths, all relevant to the graduate beginning in the 'real world' after college.
Edel Horan was the recipient of the 2009 Fingal County Council Emerging Critic Award and wrote the catalogue essay to accompany this show.
