Clare’s work is purely based upon the intrinsic and exquisite effects of colours, whilst investigating variable subject matter. All her wall hangings have an uplifting quality, not just decoratively but also spiritually. She aims to create strong harmonious atmospheres, inspiring a connection to each individual. By using strong contrasts in colour, form and texture, she creates textile wall hangings, which establish a mood and sensitivity to their commissioned venue. All wall hangings are made from handmade felt, a variety of dyed fabrics, which also incorporate devoré velvet and hand / machine stitch.
Clare Mc Carroll studied Textile Art at the University of Ulster where she received her BA hons (1998) and a Masters with Distinction (2000) in Applied Art. She works as a freelance artist and also is an Associate Lecturer in Fermanagh College.
