Eddie Cahill presented an exhibition of haunting anonymous portraits made in charcoal, paint and mixed media.
Telling of troubled lives at the edge of destruction, the title of this show referred to the black box recording devices that record the last moments of an airplane before it crashes. In a similar way Cahill captured that moment in the lives of people who exist at the edge of society. Some reveal glimmers of hope; others are resigned to the worst possibilities that life can offer. Cahill brings a human and sympathetic touch to a difficult subject.
Eddie Cahill was born in Dublin in 1952. He has exhibited widely in Ireland.
