Artist Fabien Verschaere transformed the gallery into his own magical and bizarre world. Verschaere painted the floor, walls and windows with his unique ‘personal mythology’, a world of unusual characters, objects and strange goings-on. Painted in vibrant watercolour, felt pen and stark black and white, Verschaere creates an ‘intimate theatre’ which although highly personal strongly reminds each of us of our own place in the world.
Fabien Verschaere was born in 1975 in Paris. Following graduation from L’Ecoles de Beaux Arts, Verschaere was commissioned by the Dena Foundation for Contemporary Art to make a permanent wall-drawing at Sant’Andrea Hospital in Rome. In 2002 he exhibited at the Montreal Biennal, in 2003 at the Centre for Contemporary Creation in Tours. In July 2003 Verschaere had a solo exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
This exhibition was supported by the Embassy of France in Ireland.
