Jack Donovan

Over the decades Jack Donovan created a truly unique body of work. As he celebrated his seventieth year, Draíocht was honoured to host a large retrospective of his work.

Jack was never fully satisfied with his previous production and always willing to take risks and experiment. Jack was highly influential, as a unique artist in the context of contemporary art in Ireland, as a former long term Head of Limerick School of Art and Design and as a great friend and supporter to the many students and artists he encountered along the way.

This exhibition was an opportunity to enjoy the curious, sometimes irreverent, often humorous and always uniquely painterly vision of Jack Donovan.

Jack Donovan sadly passed away in 2014, at the age of 80.
