Artist and designer Joe Coveney has carefully considered the collective and individual thoughts, words and voices of Draíocht’s D15 Youth Theatre members and responded to those words in the Ground Floor Gallery exhibition, Journey. While this exhibition seeks a wide audience - ultimately, it stands as a gift to the membership, who despite the many twists and turns have remained steadfastly committed to each other and their project.
Over the past year, Youth Theatre have considered how both our collective and personal experiences have been shaped by travelling through our shared urban spaces and how to represent these ideas through story and theatre in a time of social distance and restriction. The common experience of an overheard story on a bus comes to represent how personal stories are often played out in these shared public spaces. These stories will be shared with the creation of a film for release in early August 2021.
D15 Youth Theatre is a core element of Draíocht’s programme, representing young people from across Dublin 15 aged between 14-18 years, with an interest in collaboratively exploring the world around them, through theatre. The exhibition, created by Joe Coveney represents his response to the creative process the members engaged in on their journey towards their final film piece.
