The National Self Portrait Collection of Ireland was established in 1982 and is under the care of the University of Limerick, and comprises over 400 self-portraits by native or resident Irish artists. The collection grows by invitations or commissions (based on a small honorarium), but mainly by donations or bequests from painters, sculptors or their families.
Draíocht was delighted to have the opportunity to present a selection of these works, a varied and exciting body of paintings and sculpture.
The show included artists such as Martin Gale, John Kindness, Kathy Prendergast, John Shinnors and many more.
