Present State is a series of paintings based on cropped compositions of the human form. They record the body as present against a natural backdrop of the sky.
"My intention is to divert attention away from the cultural cues we use to identify with figures in order to suggest that something else remains. There is an absurd and elegant characteristic of humanity viewed from this perspective and I identify with it through my paintings." - Patrick Horan
