Using many different media to present his work such as photography, installation, video and performance, Paul Coffey uses many of those small oddities in our environment that are visible but which we often fail to notice. He sees what we see but with humour and a little intervention he nudges us to see more and better.
His work is clever and fresh and leaves all the questions open giving his audience a wide berth for interpretation. His practice is rather like a satisfying cryptic crossword in reach of both quick and slower thinkers, while being thoroughly entertaining at the same time.
Paul Coffey is an artist from Blanchardstown who graduated with first class honours degree in Art and Design Education at the National College of Art and Design, followed by a first class honours Masters degree in Fine Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast in 2005.
