The Colour Fields exhibition brought together five hugely talented artists, some already established and others who were well on their way to achieving prominence.
The ties that bound this group together for this exhibition were their various explorations in colour painting with reference to the landscape and nature. The work ranged from the abstract painterly approach of landscapes sensed or remembered, to the more reduced formal vocabulary of simple motifs and compositions. These artists create works that are bursting with colour, with luscious pinks, reds and purples, bright yellows and oranges, rich greens and blues, painted stridently and delicately by turn.
The commonality of subject matter and the variety of techniques gives rise to highly individual and beautiful works which will resonate with and provide pleasure to young and old visitors alike.
