Summer Project - Taster Theatre Week | Draíocht Blanchardstown

Join us for a dynamic week‑long theatre intensive where young creatives explore performance from every angle.

Across five vibrant days, participants dive into musical theatre, acting for camera, physical theatre, and playwriting. They’ll learn vocal technique, ensemble singing, on‑camera skills, movement storytelling, and how to generate original material through devising and writing.

Each session builds confidence, creativity, and theatre craft in a supportive, high‑energy environment led by experienced facilitators. The week culminates in a relaxed showcase where participants share musical moments, filmed scenes, physical theatre pieces, and new writing with peers and invited guests.

Musical Theatre

A high‑energy introduction to the world of musical theatre. Young participants explore vocal technique, ensemble singing, rhythm, and simple choreography. The day culminates in a short musical number that blends movement and song.

Acting for Camera

A practical, on‑camera acting workshop. Participants learn about framing, hitting marks, eyelines, and how screen acting differs from stage performance. They experiment with short scenes, practicing subtle expression, timing, and naturalistic delivery while watching playback to develop insight and skill.

Physical Theatre & Movement

This session focuses on body awareness, storytelling through gesture, and devising scenes without words. Participants work with ensemble movement, tableaux, and physical improvisation to understand how emotion and narrative can be communicated beyond text.

Playwriting & Devising

Young people generate original material through guided writing prompts and collaborative devising. They explore character, conflict, and structure, shaping their ideas into short scenes. Facilitators support development of voice, imagination, and creative risk‑taking.

Performance Showcase

A relaxed sharing day where participants weave together what they've explored throughout the week. Short musical pieces, camera scenes, physical theatre moments, or original writing can be presented in an informal showing for peers or invited guests.
