In September 2026, artist Andrew Carson began a collaborative visual arts project with local secondary school students in the Maker Space at Blanchardstown Library. Working alongside their teachers, students took part in a series of experimental photography workshops, exploring a range of creative image-making techniques and approaches over several weeks.
The project was inspired by Sharon Murphy's exhibition 'Mise en Abyme' in Draíocht's Ground Floor Gallery, with students using her work as a starting point for investigation and discussion. Through experimentation, observation and play, they discovered new ways of seeing and responding to the world around them.
While Sharon's photography provided the initial spark, the work presented here reflects the students' own interests, experiences and perspectives. Learning new photographic processes with Andrew Carson encouraged them to push beyond familiar approaches, developing original ideas and creating images that are uniquely their own.
We Share This Space celebrates this process of exploration and transformation, highlighting the imagination, curiosity and creative voices of a new generation of artists.
