New Work in Development
Draíocht Workshop Room
Anna Newell is starting to make a new dance show for babies aged 3-12 months and their adults, and we are delighted to welcome her to Draíocht's Workshop Room this week.
An Attempt To Talk With The Beginning Of The World is an immersive dance show for babies aged 3-12 months. It’s about the big bang. It’s about the beginning of life – both all life and the amazing single tiny life that has newly joined you and exploded your world. It’s like when you see the stars in the sky, hundreds of light years away in the past – except these tiny motes floating out there are light years away ready to come into the future. It’s an attempt to talk with the beginning of the world.
Created with choreographer Hayley Earlam (SHIMMER 2021) and new collaborators, Sinead Lawlor (costume/environment designer), Isaac Gibson (composer/sound designer) and Archer Bradshaw (lighting design), AN ATTEMPT TO TALK WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD is full of playful up-close dance, intriguing immersive sound and light and many many ping pong balls!
Sessions for Babies: Anna Newell is looking for some babies to be creative consultants in their first development week. There are sessions at 11am on Thursday 4th April and Friday 5th April in Draíocht. Email anna@annanewell.ie to book a free place if you’d like to bring your baby along!
