Gap Day at Draíocht
Draíocht is thrilled to welcome Clare Barrett for her Gap Day at Draíocht.
A Gap Day allows a freelance theatre maker to dedicate a day to the creative research and thinking they have put on the long finger. It’s up to them what they spend the day doing – reading, writing, thinking, drawing, walking, dreaming. Whatever they don’t normally have time to do; whatever they think is needed.
Theatre makers are paid to spend a day working creatively, hosted by a cultural organisation close to their home. In 2020 there were 39 artists who took 59 Gap Days in approximately 30 venues across the island.
Gap Day has been run by creative producer Lian Bell and Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre since 2015.
Draíocht's Artist Support Series, launched during Covid-19, helped 79 artists with more than 150 days of free rehearsal and creative space from July-December 2020. Space to rehearse, write, create, film, dance, think & plan... whatever was needed!
With thanks to our funders Fingal County Council & The Arts Council.
