Two Rehearsal Weeks ahead of Tour by Jess Rowell in association with Draíocht
Making Waves was originally created in 2021 as part of Jess Rowell’s Dance Residency in Draíocht. We welcome Jess Rowell and team back home for rehearsals ahead of the start of their tour, which opens next week here in Draíocht for 4 sold out shows.
Making Waves is an immersive multi-sensory dance theatre performance designed specifically for children aged 8 to 13 years with mild to more complex needs. A magical sea voyage in which the audience and performers set sail in search of hidden treasure. Along the way they encounter rolling waves, sparkling fish and swooping gulls.
A show full of colour, intrigue, rhythm, connection, beauty, fun and humour.
2023 TOUR:
Draíocht, Blanchardstown: 22-23 February
Axis Ballymun: 2-3 March
Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge: 9-11 March
Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray: 15-16 March
"What a wonderful few weeks we've had in the studio. Making Waves was originally created during my three year dance residency 2020-2022 in Draíocht, so it feels very fitting that it came home before setting sail on its four week tour. Thank you to all at Draíocht for your continued support." - Jess Rowell

Draíocht invests significantly in the development of artist's practice by the provision of benefit in kind support such as space, technical support, admin/marketing support and specialist expertise.
Our Artist Support Series, launched during Covid-19, helped 79 artists in 2020 and 50 artists in 2021, with the provision of free rehearsal and creative space.
Space to rehearse, write, create, film, dance, think & plan ... whatever was needed!
With thanks to our funders Fingal County Council & The Arts Council.
