New Work in Development
February
Draíocht welcomes Dublin 15 artist and previous D15 Youth Theatre Member for Artist Support, Tishé Fatunbi.
Tishé is a maker, actor and founder of Arinola Theatre, a black run, Dublin based, theatre company. Nominated in 2024 for a Dublin Fringe Festival best performer award in 'Ololufe', a show she co-wrote, Tishé is committed to bringing stories from people in marginalised communities to the stage.
Her two-week Residency in Draíocht in February 2026 will see Tishé research links between black liberation and Irish liberation in the 20th century, focusing on interesting relationships between historical figures such as the friendship between Daniel O'Connell and Fredrick Douglass.
This will culminate in exploratory writing on this topic guided by Esosa Ighodaro as dramaturg, to search for individual narratives in a historical fiction piece.
"In these weeks at Draíocht, I am working on exploring connections between Irish Liberation and Black Liberation in the 20th century and allyship between the two groups. I am also working with Esosa Ighodaro to finish my play KOKORO that I began as part of last year's Rachel Baptiste Programme." - Tishé Fatunbi
