New Work in Development
Draíocht is thrilled to welcome writer and theatre maker Tom Moran to our Workshop Room this week.
This week, Tom is working on a new play called The Everything of Us, a play about the healing powers of romantic love from both physical and emotional trauma. When it's finished, hopefully before the end of the year, Tom hopes to have a rom-com, with an emotional twist, that will be funny, heartfelt and moving.
Tom is an emerging writer-performer from Co Meath whose latest solo show, 'Tom Moran is a Big Fat Filthy Disgusting Liar', premiered at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2022 where it won the Fishamble Best New Writing Award. Following that, the show toured to the Project Arts Centre, The Lyric Belfast and The Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe. The play has also been optioned by Deadpan Pictures where he is currently developing it for the TV comedy drama space.
In 2023, Tom was awarded the Next Generation Award for Theatre from the Arts Council. Tom's previous writer-performer credits include; Comedically Heartbroken (Smock Alley, 2020), The Belly Button Girl (The New Theatre, 2019) and Lyrics (Theatre Upstairs, 2018). Tom's acting credits include; The Christmas Break (BBC/Fox), Staging The Treaty (Anú Productions), West Side Story (Bord Gáis Energy Theatre), Copper Face Jacks: The Musical (The Olympia Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Mill Theatre), The Rivals (Smock Alley), Fierce Notions (Dublin Fringe) and King Lear (Mill Theatre).
