Arts Council Commission Award: Paul Curley and Ger Clancy

June 2021 - An Update from Paul Curley

In a perfect ending to the school year, artist Paul Curley paid a fun visit to the pupils of St Mochta's National School in Clonsilla to ask their advice for a new show he is creating for young audiences about a wise and wily Parrot called Alex. After a drama session, children wrote their suggestions on postcards and also had a chance to record possible parrot voice samples.

Draíocht is delighted to announce we have been awarded a Commission Award by The Arts Council to enable us work with Theatre-Maker Paul Curley and Designer Ger Clancy in 2021, in consultation with children in Dublin 15, to create a draft script and prototype puppet for a new theatre piece for young audiences about emotional intelligence: a heart-warming story about a wise and wily Parrot.
