CCI Draíocht Residency Announced - Paul Curley

01 April 2022

Draíocht in partnership with CCI - 2022/2023 Residency Programme

Artists CCI2223 Paul Curley

Congratulations to writer and theatre maker Paul Curley who is the 6th and latest Draíocht recipient of a CCI Residency Award (2022/2023), one of 38 Artist Awards announced today by our partners in Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris.

Draíocht is delighted to continue our partnership with CCI (one of 17 partnering organisations), supporting an artist to travel to Paris to participate in the 2022/2023 Residency Programme, tapping into the resources of the CCI and the city of Paris, as well as having the opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage.

The recipients of Draíocht supported residencies are artists working in any discipline with a clear focus on children and/or young people.

To date, 5 artists have been awarded a Draíocht Supported Residency; theatre makers Mary Lou McCarthy and Dan Colley (2018/2019); writer and theatre maker Sian Ní Mhuirí (2019/2020), theatre artist Deirdre Dwyer (2020/2021) and writer Liam McCarthy (2021/2022).

"I have created a number of theatre shows for young audiences that have toured venues and festivals across Ireland and internationally. As part of my residency at CCI, I propose to spend time translating two of these works to make them accessible to children and families in French-speaking regions. I will seek to meet artists working in Paris that may be able to assist me in translating the text. I will also investigate avenues for presentation of these works by creating links, arranging meetings and attending performances and festivals for young audiences in the Paris region." - Paul Curley
