Matt Szczerek - Monster Developments in Local Schools

5-9 July 2021
Draíocht is delighted to co commission the development of Lords of Strut's new family show tackling climate crisis anxiety, The Dream Factory.
This July saw Lords of Strut, with an extended family of the cream of Irish and UK performing talent from Circus, Theatre, Dance, Acro, Puppetry, Clown and Rap, spend a week in a residential bubble of magnificent development creativity at the Irish Aerial Creation Centre in Limerick.
They explored the world of The Dream Factory and its inhabitants. They wrote songs about life in Ballyplastic and learned the difference between Linear and Circular Economies. They played with the very serious theme of climate anxiety and imagined what it could be like if nobody was too little to make a difference.
Under the guidance of director Jenny Jennings with choreographer, Deirdre Griffin and composer Garry GMC, Lords of Strut threw themselves into music, movement, puppetry sequences and writing.
'We are very excited with how much we achieved in one short week, and are already looking forward to adding the next layers to “The Dream Factory”, and to make a real difference. We’re dreaming big!"
The Creation Room was made possible with funding from the Arts Council Theatre Creation Strand, Dublin City Council and our co-commissioning partners:
