The Dream Factory - Lords of Strut Music Workshop Creation Week

25 March 2022

21-24 March 2022
Workshop Room

Artists Lord Of Strut2022

"This week, we explored a music creation process for an ambitious new multidisciplinary show called The Dream Factory, created by the Lords of Strut, director Jennifer Jennings and the Company. The Dream Factory is a contemporary quest narrative that works as an allegory for the climate emergency and rampant consumerism, while imagining a better future. It is aimed at family audiences, with a particular focus on 8-12 year olds, for presentation in February 2023 at The Everyman Theatre in Cork, with further development and touring in 2024. The focus of the week was developing ideas and processes for two workshops that we can deliver alongside the show – one for young people, one for theatre creators – and in the process we also generated a wealth of material for the show."

The Dream Factory has a cast of 10 amazing, multi-skilled players in aerial, acrobatics, comedy, music, puppetry, acting, dance and trampoline!

Our Music Workshop week company:

Breeda – our environmental warrior heroine with a passion for karate, played by Genevieve Hulme Beaman

Father – Breeda’s downtrodden father who has given up his dreams, played by Bryan Quinn

Mother – Breeda’s stuff-addicted mother, played by Sarah Morris

Zack – Marketing Director for the Dream Factory, played by Cian Kinsella/also Bryan Quinn

The Bee – A bee who befriends Breeda along the way, played by Ray Cuddihy

Moo – A giant evil sheep called Moo who heads up the Dream Factory, played by Sarah Morris/also Ray Cuddihy

"Huge thanks to Draíocht for their invaluable support in this process." - Deirdre Molloy, The Dream Factory Producer

Draíocht invests significantly in the development of artist's practice by the provision of benefit in kind support such as space, technical support, admin/marketing support and specialist expertise.

Our Artist Support Series, launched during Covid-19, helped 79 artists in 2020 and 50 artists in 2021, with the provision of free rehearsal and creative space.

Space to rehearse, write, create, film, dance, think & plan ... whatever was needed!

With thanks to our funders Fingal County Council & The Arts Council.
