How Art Takes Shape with Artist Sharon Kelly

Draíocht is seeking a 5th or 6th class group from a Dublin 15 primary school to take part in an exciting year-long project with artist Sharon Kelly, who has been selected to create Draíocht's Summer Children's Commission 2027. Pupils will have the unique opportunity to meet the artist in person and receive regular virtual updates as she works between London, Belfast and Dublin, as she develops this new exhibition. Throughout the project, participants will help shape and inform the exhibition, gaining a behind-the-scenes insight into how artworks are developed and exhibitions are created. They will explore ideas around contemporary art, commissioning, curation and gallery practice, while discovering how artists research, experiment and bring their ideas to life. This is a unique opportunity for young people to contribute directly to a professional gallery exhibition and to see how their ideas can influence the creative process.
