A project exploring the role of women in the Irish State
November 2021 will see Veronica Coburn, Artistic Director of HOME THEATRE (Ireland), Artistic Director Our Place, Our Stories, Hallelujah! Draíocht’s Community Clown Choir (Artist in Residence Draíocht 2012 – 2015), return to Dublin 15 to seed a new, ambitious, participatory art project.
Without Distinction of Sex will look to the text of the Irish Constitution to explore the role of women in the Irish State. In looking back, Without Distinction of Sex will seek to understand the present.
Veronica will work with Film Artist, Joe Lee, Composer, Sinéad Diskin and Choreographer, Sibėal Davitt, before opening wide Draíocht’s doors inviting anyone interested in participating to come and find out more about the project.
Two workshops will be held in Draíocht on December 6th:
Workshop A will be from 3pm to 5pm
Workshop B will be from 7pm to 9pm
Choose which one suits you best and book a place!
Without Distinction of Sex will be developed through a public workshop programme from February to April 2022 and will culminate in the writing of a common opera featuring spoken and sung verbatim text. Your words. Veronica’s vision. Sinéad’s music. Sibėal’s movement. All captured in Joe’s patient lens.
If you’re interested in participating in Without Distinction of Sex and would like to attend one of the workshops, please call Draíocht’s Box Office on 01 885 2622 to book in.
