Book NowLeaning heavily into the genre of ‘Dark Cabaret,’ (previously explored in “The Whistling Girl”- settings of Dorothy Parker’s poetry with Honor Heffernan), The Devil’s Spine Band takes its’ lead from Oscar Wilde’s 1882 lecture tour to the mining town of Leadville Colorado, then explores all things ‘Cowboy’ and ‘Wilde-West’ in an Americana explosion. Heavily tinged with Trevor Knight’s unique innovative flair, much of the music is co-written with Ireland’s finest living blues guitarist Ed Deane (Skid Row; Frankie Miller Band; Dana Gillespie). You are invited into their surreal desert world with music that incorporates Spaghetti Western, blues, free improvisation and ambient electronic music.
The music features settings of a number of Wilde’s poems together with original lyrics - It’s edgy stuff; improvisational, rockin’, by times ambient electronic and by times a whoopin’ and a hollerin’ kind of an affair, that will take the audience on a unique journey with some of Ireland’s finest musicians and performers.
It's finally time for you to put on that crazy cowboy outfit you’ve always wanted to wear!
"A supergroup by any other name ... the band’s precision playing held the attentive audience spellbound. The Devil indeed has the best tunes." - Jackie Hayden
