The Elephant in the Room
February 2026
5 Poets & 1 Illustrator
5 Dublin 15 Families
Nov - Dec 2021
We are bringing a turbulent and unpredictable 2021 to an end with a powerful poetry project called Super Power Poetry, made possible with funding from Fingal County Council's Creative Culture Fund 2021.
Five young people from Dublin 15 (aged 4 to 18 years) and their families, have been brought together with five poets; John Cummins, Lucinda Jacob, Colm Keegan, Paul Timoney and Jess Traynor; to create a bespoke poem about their family, and about the super power that lives inside every home in the ordinary things they do every day, especially during the challenges that 2021 may have brought their way.
Poetry chats took place thorough a series of outdoor tea meetings, zooms and phone calls during November and December 2021.
Once the poems are complete, with the permission of each family and poet, they will be individually illustrated by artist Alan Nolan and will be exhibited in Draíocht's foyer during February 2022, before making their way back to their families' homes for good.
