Dance Workshops in D15 Early Years Settings & Primary Schools
7-25 October 2024
For 3 weeks in October, Draíocht is out and about in Dublin 15 with free dance workshops for young children in early years settings and primary schools, supporting two dance artists, Selma Daniel and Matt Szczerek.
---
Created by Selma Daniel & Little Lion Dance Theatre, Moving Words is a live dance performance integrated with an inclusive movement workshop to celebrate the joy of dancing and reading, for young children. This story-time experience travels to an education setting, and features a live contemporary dance performance alongside the reading of a selected picture book. Encouraging creativity in dance, art and speech expression, Moving Words makes live professional dance performance accessible to a wider audience.
Book 1: Finn and The Wicked Fairy of Tara
Book 2: And Tango Makes Three

Matt Szczerek, Draíocht’s Dance Artist in Residence, and dancer/circus artist Alessio Motta are currently in the research & development phase of Monsters, a brand-new contemporary dance show for schools, and they've already visited a number of schools in Dublin 15 earlier in the year.
Matt loves scary movies and this new ‘Monsters’ show has been inspired by that. This is a live dance performance followed by a workshop where pupils get to ask Matt and Alessio questions afterwards, and talk about their own ideas of what monsters look like and how they might behave.

"It's Day 1 and we were in Linda's Little Learners in Huntstown today with Book 1: And Tango Makes Three. We spread our wings, shook off the snow, walked and swam like a penguin and most importantly we looked after our own penguin eggs, just like the loving penguins in the book! Followed by some lovely tea and biscuits. Thank you for a flippin' good time! We're excited for the next stop on our tour of early years and primary schools in Dublin 15." - Selma Daniel
